iTeleport Remote Desktop App Reviews

Major crashes and other issues

This has been a staple must have app for me for years to remote into client machines, but recent months have been nothing but frustrating. Several crashes a day, it forgets credentials and I need to re enter passwords, and it has a hard time showing the screen of a mac on the first attempt to remote in. It will successfully authenticate, then I just see a black screen with a mouse pointer. I have to back out and go in again (if it hasnt crashed yet) and then on the second attempt it will display the screen of the client. I really really liked this app a lot but if its not fixed soon Ill be forced to look for a better app...

This review pains me

It really pains me to write a bad review. After nearly 5 years of use and great support, the app finally has too many problems that are going unaddressed. Like others, it keeps asking me for my VNC password. The latest update brings back the “Black screen” issue everyone is getting. It often refuses to connect and just hangs until the app is restarted or you navigate elsewhere in the app and try again. The UI is a bit outdated and their Vine Server for Mac hasnt been updated in ages. At this poin, after years in use Im ready for these guys to rebuild the app and Id be willing to pay again for new development, as long as they get it together and fix these issues. Its a really sad turn of events for what was years worth of use in a once great app.

Used to be better

It works fine locally but crashes a lot when connecting through iTeleport Connect. Its a shame because the app used to work well. The design is good and its got all the features I need.

Now makes phones less secure

After years of use, now my Google Mail account gives this warning when, logging in: "To help keep your account secure, we may block these less secure apps from accessing your account, and you’ll see a “Password incorrect” error when trying to sign in. If this is the case, you have two options: Upgrade to a more secure app that uses the most up to date security measures. All Google products, like Gmail, use the latest security measures. Go to Allow less secure apps and choose “Allow” to let less secure apps access your Google account. We dont recommend this option because it may make it easier for someone to gain access to your account." iTransport recommends (re: forces) getting the gmail account to use the app, so what gives?

Used to be great and now barely works

Slow and Unresponsive when it actually succeeds to connect in the first place without crashing, and causing the server to lock up for several minutes which is about 90% of the time. Wrote to support and was told it was being escalated to development then never heard from them again. Great. Need to look into chrome desktop

Does not require Google, but WITH works with Double NAT

# iTeleport review I dont know why therere all these negative reviews here—this may be an older app, and the Dev may have not upgraded it recently, but that doesnt matter. There are a number of older robust apps on the store. This is one of them. Many things changed since my last review, where I said that you dont even need to use Google to use this app. I was able to configure it without Google just fine until I had to change ISPs. My new ISP has put me behind "double NAT" hell. You have no static IP and you have no dynamic IP either. You have an inaccessible private address that only works inside the providers LAN. This is the ONLY app that, using the Google integration, can reach behind an ISP that has "double NATd" you. Other alternatives like "Screens" dont work. Apples own "Back to my Mac" doesnt work. Yes I tested them both, only I teleport could get to my Mac Mini, that my ISP hides behind a "double NATd" network. If you dont like googles security warnings, then do what you have to do with iCloud: make an application specific password specific to this app. Done and done. Yes Google has a free Remote client now but it has "NAT transversal issues"—even after all this time iTeleport does not. Even after all this time iTeleport is still my go to remote desktop application. End of story.

Used to be good

This app used to do everything well. Now, it can barely even connect to my new MacBook Pro.

Cant live without it

Ive been using this app for about 5 years already and it works flawlessly on Wifi and 3G. Connects to all platforms that I throw at it, can use SSH tunnel, can save passwords, etc. Works great on iPhone and iPad. I tried other remote connection apps but keep coming back to iTeleport. It connects to all recent versions of Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. The dev team did a great job. If someone experiences issues using this app I guess, they could also be related to the environment, network, or remote OS permissions.

Amazing app. But you need are totally broke. In iOS 9 beta

This is an excellent app. I have VNC installed on several computers and this little app can connect to all of them. iTeleport Devs: You need to download the iOS 9 beta though because your app is crashing on startup, even with a fresh install. So if you dont solve that issue, youll be unusable in Seltember.

Use it all the time

Been using this app for years. It does crash on my phone on occasion and then I just reinitiate a new screen sharing session, but its not a huge deal. Overall, I like it and use it on my home wifi, as well as away from the house and it gets the job done.

New update

Still bugs , sudden close of the App And the F1 keys is not working And there fix the sudden crush of the app Add gesture for mission control Im using iPad Air with iOS 8.02 Thanks

Used to love it...but lately unreliable

Ive had this app for years and loved it. In the past few months however it has been extremely glitchy, only functioning about 30% of the time. Its a real let down when I am counting on it to access my home computer and it just keeps crashing over and over or searching for the signal with no luck. Keep hoping for an update to correct these issues, when that happens I will amend my review, this is a five star app when its functioning, but unfortunately that is not currently the case.

Dont understand all the bad reviews

This app works very well for me. iPhone6 on OS 8.4.1, connecting to Mac Mini late 2012 & a MacBook Pro 2015 both running Yosemite 10.10.5. Connects fast and reliably every time. Screen updates over WiFi are fast, even with 3 screens hooked up to my Mac Mini. Really like this app- not sure if Im just "lucky" or if these people leaving 1-star reviews are just suffering from other possibly non-related issues. Either way this is a solid app that I use daily. Thanks to the developers for the recent updates!

Crashes, fails to work properly with iOS 8.4.1 & Yosemite

I have manual configurations. With my internal one it usually connects, and sometimes gives a black screen where you can move the cursor around and it moves on my Mac. With the external one it crashes. This needs to be fixed, because before it was a 5 star app. Still crashes 9/15/15 I have deleted the app and moved to Screens. Much, much better Crashes still. Unusable.

Broken in iOS9 / Yosemite

This freezes on my Mac Pro and the iOS app crashes when trying to connect. Its a shame because it used to work so well. It seems development and support has stalled. Look elsewhere.

After years of use, it no longer works

For the past five or six years I have used this app and it has been great! However, recently it just hasnt been working! 90% of the time I have to try 10+ times just to connect to a computer. Even then it usually doesnt work and I end up trying on the desktop app (and half the time that doesnt work). They really need to work out the bugs and get this app working as great as it was a few years ago. Id be more than willing to pay for an entirely new version of this app that worked! Please develop it!

Nice App

Need some update

love this app

this app works flawlessly. i set up manually (easy) on an old Mac G4/10.5.8 server, no-ip enhanced, and have set (reserved) my local ip. excellent support too! i connect idevices running ios 9.0.2. :) = happy. 5 stars.

From Best to Unusable

Frequently freezes and crashes in iOS 9. Several restarts of the application are required to get a stable and usable interface.

Used to be rock solid.

This app used to be extremely reliable for accessing my desktop remotely from my iPad and iPhone. After upgrading both to iOS 9, this app requires frequent restarts and disconnects from the server often. I was hoping the issue would be resolved after 6 solid weeks of iOS 9 having shipped. Hoping theres an fix coming down shortly. Looking forward to recommending this app again soon!
